hey all I'm getting ready to build my rig and I can't for the life of me figure out if I need to add a BLE module to the arduino in order to utilize ibeacon tech? I am planning to use Launch Center Pro to automatically open and close my garage door using ibeacon on my iPhone also maybe I'll add a tag to both cars. Thanks in advance!

No, you don't need to add a BLE module to your Arduino setup, but you will need one or more iBeacons that you'll be configuring with Launch Center Pro.

Thanks for the reply but I was under the impression that the iPhone had BT 4.0 already so additional hardware isn't needed.

Indeed, the iPhone already has BLE but it needs to be in proximity of "something" in order for proximity detection to work. That "something" is a Beacon. There might be some Arduino shields or add-ons in the future that will support the iBeacon standards, but tight integration with the Arduino doesn't add any value as the beacons are typically passive anyways.
