what type of cable do most people use from the relay to the switch.

also I'm looking to install a contact sensor and the one I'm looking at only has a 12inch cable so would the same type of cable that i use for the relay work for the sensor since i would need it longer.

sorry I didn't know if there is a standard low voltage cable or something spacial.

I used some cross-connect cable (1 pair) because I had it laying around.

I did some searching on cross-connect cables and keep turning up cat5. Can i use cat5e cables? i have a big spool of it already.

Yes, i use Cat5 cables for my Door Sensor and working great and i used these switches from ebay
