MyDoorOpener not working on iOS 9.0.2

Postby User777 » Tue Oct 27, 2015 1:56 am

Recently upgraded to 9.0.2.

MyDoorOpener is configured identically to an iPhone still on iOS 8.

The iOS 8 iPhone opens and closes doors as designed.

The iOS 9 phone can only see open/close status of the doors but cannot open/close the garage doors.

MyDoorOpener may need some minor updates to ensure correct functionality on iOS 9.

I hope support responds in some way, this is my second post on this issue and the first post never got posted. I'm not sure why

We've been using iOS 9.0.x and now iOS 9.1 and things have been working properly on our end.

1) Are you getting any error message?
2) @All, has anyone else on the forums experienced similar issues on iOS 9.0.x?
3) Did you try updating to iOS 9.1?

Within the iOS app, in the configuration for your device that's not working, make sure you have the right Relay Pin and Status Pin values. That's most likely what's wrong.

User777, by the way, I just saw your review on the Apple AppStore ... Not fair and not true ... It is because of people like you that it is so difficult in the App development market.

1) All new users on this forum get their posts screened until they have posted 3 posts. After that, their posts are no longer screened. You should see the bots that come in and try to post adds, porn, etc... This has nothing to do with filtering legitimate support related questions. It's all about having appropriate content on the forums.

2) The reason why I didn't get back to you earlier on your post was that I was on vacation. As soon as I got back and saw your post, I replied ...

I don't think users of our app feel the same way you do about the quality of support they have been provided here. Please consider removing or upgrading your comment on the AppStore as this is what truly hurts us ...

Thanks,

The app has been working flawlessly for me on 9.0, 9.0.1, 9.0.2, and 9.1. I don't see any issues reported by user777.

I apologize "support" but the settings are identical to the other iPhone that's still on iOS 8 and the app simply does not work on iOS 9.0.2. The iphone on iOS 8 works fine. The one on iOS 9.0.2 does not.

To answer an earlier question, there are no error messages presented when activating the relay. Nothing happens. Open/Close statuses work as designed and are accurate but the primary function isn't working, at least not for me on iOS 9.0.2.

The review in the app store is an honest experience from a real world user, you know, "people like me". Just like any review, it's one user's experience and I don't like that it's negative either. I'd like the app to work like it is for everybody else apparently. Sorry you were on vacation. Perhaps the sole means of support for an application shouldn't be a forum?

I have absolutely no issue at all to revise a review to positive five stars if the app would simply work but the review reflects my experience with the app currently. If reviews can be updated, I'll go back and revise.

That's strange that it's not working for you on iOS 9.0.2 ... It worked for us as well as everyone else. We would have heard about it if it weren't working ...

Is the app properly reporting Open/Close status? If Open/Close status is properly reported, it could be that the password you entered for that controller
is not accurate. A valid password is not required to report open/close status, but triggering (opening and closing) does require a valid password. Since you
don't see the password on the iPhone app screen, you'd have to type it back in again to make sure it's accurate ... Password is case sensitive so make sure
you type it in properly ...

Last thing I could think of but highly doubt that could be it ... have you tried upgrading to latest iOS 9.1?

On a side note ... I understand your frustration, but honestly, I think that putting up a 1 star review doesn't reflect "an honest experience from a real world user"
but rather a frustrated individual, which is often what happens, unfortunately ... Do you honestly think we sell that many copies of the app that we can live off this
alone and that we could operate a 1-800 24/7 support line to assist people? Come on, let's be realistic here ... This app sells for 5$ and quantities aren't enough to
make a living off it, obviously ... We also have day jobs and families just like you ... (reality check). Thanks for reconsidering your review.

No problem, @support.

User777 - I wonder if you have tried to delete the app and reinstall it.

Restored iphone to 9.1 (which I didn't want to do). Reinstalled app. Doors Open/Close as designed. Still not sure why app would not play ball with me on 9.0.2 but OK I suppose, it's working for me on 9.1.

Review was removed yesterday, I'll go back revise a positive review (again).

In regards to support, I still don't think a forum is the best method here. I don't expect a 24/7 call center either. No reasonable person would. If I had any implication whatsoever, anything at all, that my issue was being seen by support, I wouldn't have felt like people should know my experience. If you don't use the support email address that's linked on the page for support, what exactly is it used for? If the user base is so small as you claim then it stands to reason that there wouldn't be a constant flood of support emails. Reply to folks and post the useful content to the forum where appropriate for general user lookup. This doesn't sound so crazy to me, but hey, who am I.

Again, sorry you were on vacation, but as a user I was in the dark. A simple support email address that auto-replied support's status (such as vacation, outages, etc) would've been immensely better than nothing but again the support email doesn't seem to be used for anything benefiting the average user. Since the forum is the main method of support here perhaps a message on the "Announcements" page that support is currently "out-of-office" for a certain date range, that would've been excellent. I definitely would not have minded at all to wait for some kind of response had I any known support was "out".

Have a good one.
