Not working

Postby gio_dude » Sat Apr 11, 2015 8:03 am

Are there any reported issues with the newest AirPort Extreme. I feel like I set it up right and can't get it to work.

I'm stuck at the check in web browser step haven't even got to the app.

Sorry I forgot I'm using an xboard, Mac on 10.10 and newest AirPort Extreme

So figured out that latest version of safari doesn't display an xml format like the guide asked for.

Firefox worked fine. So I moved on to setting up the iPhone app and I keep getting could not connect to the server error. On wifi and on lte.

I also setup an dynamic DNS to see if it helped and it didn't. I used no-ip for the ddns. No matter what I try I still can get it to work.

Any help would be much appreciated

We haven't heard of any issues with AirPort Extreme. Are you using this over wired ethernet or did you "hack" some sort of WiFi bridge configuration?

I suggest you get your Arduino / XBoard configured in the most simplistic way and troubleshoot a very basic
setup. Then once that works, build on top of that ... So, 1) no dynamic DNS to start with ... 2) internal network
first (no internet), etc ... And then when that works add a little bit at a time so that when something isn't
working you why/what more easily.

This is where I'm at.

xboard plugged into router (newest airport extreme) router into charter cable modem (i think its an arris). nothing plugged into the relay or sensor just either net and power.

from my mac (wired to same router) type in ip address for xboard an get this

<myDoorOpener><status statusPin="3">Closed</status><status statusPin="4">Closed</status><challengeToken>Cyber1504441</challengeToken></myDoorOpener>

it looks just like the guide.

next step is to setup iPhone app. cool

url and password
I use my internal ip address for the xboard
http://xx.x.x.xx:port

and it works :D :D :D :D :D I here the clicking when i toggle it.

now I change my internal ip address to my public ip address
http://xx.xxx.xx.xx:port

It doesn't work. :x :x :x :x :x I have tried with and with out the port on the end. same result. could not connect to server

so this where I'm at. any help would be great.

You need to:

1) Make sure your ISP is not blocking incoming traffic.
2) Enable NAT port forwarding from your home router (external IP) to your Arduino (internal IP).

Are they blocking all ports or just the commonly used ones? Because you could use, let's say external port 8888 and have it forward to port 80 internally. Just an idea ... If that doesn't work, I really don't know what you can do but change ISP or talk them into unblocking some ports ... Good luck!
