A Year in the Making...

Almost a year ago I investigated opening and closing my garage door using my iPhone, Google and found this web site. The last year I have been reviewing Arduino hardware and software (I current have Arduino UNOs, MEGA 2560s, Yúns, SainSmart UNOs and MEGA 2560s, Adafruit Trinkets, Intel Arduino/Galileo and a Spark Core on order).

This past weekend I installed MyDoorOpener (attached code has hardware links and a link to a picture).

I had a few issues:

Whenever I Email/SMS the Web Server would stop responding, I discovered that if I manually rebooted, the Web Server began responding again (perhaps the SainSmart hardware). I added code for the Arduino Watchdog Timer (Google for details) to reboot after sending Email/SMS, worked for me.

I had to rework some of the code for the SainSmart 5V relay.

Currently MyDoorOpener is working as expected, great site, great software, thanks a lot.

Too bad you have to reboot though ... Most probably due to SainSmart hardware ?!?

I know the SMTP authentication bit has been asked often so I'm sure it'll make
many happy users ... We never wanted to go there since there's so many variations ...
At least with these bits of code, it'll give a starting point or even a fully working
implementation for anyone who uses Comcast as their provider.
